If you are in Bergen, Fløyen (320 masl.) is an absolute must visit! A trip with the funicular Fløibanen is a great experience, with the two carriages that have transported people to the mountain for over 100 years. The tour starts in the heart of Bergen city centre and takes you to the top in approximately 6 minutes. There you will get a spectacular panoramic view over the city, fjord and mountains.
Tickets:
Fløibanen tickets can be purchased at the Tourist Information, at www.floyen.no/en or in the Fløibanen app. We recommend buying tickets in advance.

Summer prices 1 April 2025 - 30 September:
Adults return: NOK 190 and children NOK 95 (no senior discount)
With the Bergen card return: Adults 95.- and children: 50.- (no senior discount)
One way: Adult NOK 100 Child: NOK 50 (no senior discount)
Winter prices 1 October - 31 December:
Adult return: NOK 140, Child: NOK 70 Senior: NOK 100
With the Bergen Card return: Adult: NOK 70, child: NOK 35 (no senior discount)

How to get the Bergen Card discount:
The Bergen Card is only valid for return tickets only. If you have purchased the Bergen Card digitally, you can add the discount when booking your Fløibanen tickets online at floyen.no. Use your unique reference code shown on the Bergen Card.
If you have a physical Bergen Card, you must also buy physical Fløibanen tickets to get your discount - either at the Tourist Information or at the ticket office at the lower station of Fløibanen.
Opening hours for the ticket office:
May - August: weekdays from 8:30 - 21:00 and weekends from 09:00 - 21:00
September: weekdays from 8:30 - 19:00 and weekends from 09:00 - 19:00
October - March: weekdays from 09:00 - 16:00 and weekends from 09:00 - 17:00
April: Monday - Friday from 08:30 - 19:00 and weekend from 09:00 - 19:00
Walking routes:
The Funicular takes you to a fantastic area of beautiful natural surroundings with innumerable opportunities for walking and hiking. From Mount Fløyen there are walks on gravel roads and paths to fantastic viewpoints where you can enjoy views of the fjord, mountains and the city below. You can also walk from Mount Fløyen to Mount Ulriken. This hike is called Vidden and is one of Bergens most popular mountain hikes. You can walk in either direction, but a lot of people prefer to start at Ulriken and finish at Fløyen which is right in the city center. The hike takes approximately 5 hours and you can read more about the Vidden hike here. To walk down from Fløyen takes around 45 minutes.

Fløyen Active:
Close to the funicular at the top of Mount Fløyen, you will find Fløyen Activ. Here, you can rent a bike and cycle on beautiful gravel paths.
Food and drink at Fløyen:
When you arrive at Fløyen you may sense the smell of freshly baked pastry. The charming Fløistuen shop and café offers pastries, ice cream, hot and cold drinks, as well as souvenirs and gifts.
The Fløirestaurant has been completely renewed and is now open every day. It can still boasts of beautiful views of Bergen and its surroundings.
In the same venue, you will also find the exclusive restaurant Schou. Here you can experience a 10-course sensory menu featuring flavors from the mountains, fjords, and flora, all set within Schou’s historic architecture.
About 10 minutes walk from the station on top, you find the lake Skomakerdiket. The charming cafe Skomakerstuen is open during weekends and public holidays. Try the Norwegian “svele” and something to drink, with a beautiful view over the water.
Did you know that the Fløistuen Café grows some of its own produce only meters away from the café? MatTak (directly translated to food roof) is a company that grows fresh produce on rooftops throughout the city. Mattak’s goal is to spread knowledge about growing food and how to cope with climate change. Vegetables like potatoes, salads and edible flowers are grown on Mount Fløyen and used in the café.
Mount Fløyen for children:
Children can have fun at the large playground or try an exciting obstacle course in the forest. Stroll through the mysterious Troll Forest if you dare.. In the summer you can paddle a canoe at the idyllic Lake Skomakerdiket (for free) or hire a paddleboard to use at the small lake.
PS. if you visit Fløyen in the summer, you have to say hello to the cuddly and slightly mischievous goats "Fløyenguttene".
Accessibility:
The funicular is fully wheelchair accessible, featuring spacious cabins and easy access at both the lower and upper stations. By using the elevator, visitors can bypass the stairs and directly enter the upper cabin of the funicular.
At the top, you’ll find a restaurant, a café, and a souvenir shop, all connected by paved paths. Additionally, there is a large viewpoint designed with accessibility in mind. Parts of the viewpoint are not accessible such as the short viewpoint “walkway”. Both the Fløistuen shop & café as well as the restaurant are adapted for wheelchair users, and there is an accessible toilet available.
Mount Fløyen also features short and long trails into the mountain; however, these gravel roads include small hills that might be challenging for some wheelchair users. A sturdy electric wheelchair is recommended. The trail to Skomakerdiket takes approximately 10-15 minutes and ends at a small café (mostly open during weekends), which is easily accessible.The trails are not suitable for wheelchair users when there is snow or freezing temperatures, as this can create slippery surfaces.
The bottom station of the Fløibanen funicular is located about 5 minutes walk from the Fish Market in Bergen city center. However, the road is quite steep and has several pavement obstructions. In winter this road can be slippery if the temperatures are low, and in case of snow not recommended for wheelchair users.
